High density 40/10G test modules and 1G and 10G "combi-card" bolster Xena's price-performance offerings.

Xena Networks, the global leader in Gigabit Ethernet Test Equipment Price Performance, announces the immediate availability of four new test modules spanning 40G, 10G and 1G testing and suitable for inclusion in both the 4U XenaBay and 1U XenaCompact test chassis.

"Xena's new test modules address the growing demand for high-density 40 and 10G testing using the latest technology," explains Jacob Nielsen, CEO at Xena Networks. "We also see an opportunity for customers who need to test both 1G and 10G in the smallest possible central office rack space, but who want to do it as cost-effectively as possible."

"Flexibility was a key factor in designing the new test modules, especially as it is so closely tied to price-performance. All three of these cards let customers do more Gigabit Ethernet testing by including the flexibility to test different speeds as needed."

M12QSFP10 - Industry-leading high density 10G test module

For ultra-high-density 10G testing, Xena now offers the M12QSFP10 test module which boasts an impressive 12 ports, in the QSFP form factor and enabled via breakout cables.

"Installed in our popular 1U XenaCompact, this will make it the industry's smallest high-density 10G test unit on the market," points out Jacob Nielsen. "For customers using it in our XenaBay chassis it will mean being able to aggregate 144 10G ports in a 4U rack unit which will also be an industry-first.

" M6RJ45+ - tri-speed (10/1G and 100Mb) test module over copper

The M6RJ45+ is a tri-speed test module supporting testing at 10G, 1G, and 100Mbps over 10GBase-T copper. The first version has 6 ports and it will soon be followed by a 2-port variant. This will be a cost-effective entry-level model where the other four ports can be enabled via a paid software upgrade.

"The M6RJ45+ gives customers a 10Gbase-T tri-speed (auto-negotiation) that offers excellent bit error rate performance over Cat6a cable lengths of 300 feet (100m) using the latest PHY technologies," says Jacob Nielsen.

M2QSFP+ - Dual speed (40/10G) test module

The M2QSFP+ features two 40G test ports that can be software configured to provide eight 10G test ports for both 850 nm (iSR4) and 1310 nm (iSM4) optical wavelengths via breakout cables, and is interoperable with 10GBASE-SR/LR compliant products.

"With this dual-speed 40G and 10G test module, we expand our 40G offering for data centers and enterprises. The M2QSFP+ combines low-cost optics and the QSFP form factor making it an attractive option for many of our customers," explains Jacob Nielsen.

Installing twelve of M2QSFP+modules in the 4U XenaBay chassis will give customers 24 40G ports or 94 10G ports, or any mix of these two port speeds.

M2SFP+4SFP - Mixed speed (1G and 10G) test module delivers testing convenience.

The new M2SFP+4SFP lets customers simultaneously test both 1G and 10G by offering two 10G ports and four 1G test ports. It is aimed at central office facilities and for use in the field for a variety of testing applications, including service activation for businesses, and mobile backhaul testing.

"We anticipate this test module will be popular with customers requiring a robust test platform with both 1G and 10G test ports in the smallest possible rack space," predicts Jacob Nielsen. "For this reason, the test module will only be available for the XenaCompact chassis."

New test modules match Xena's award-winning business model

Like all the previous Xena products, the new test modules are competitively priced, and are supplied complete with a comprehensive free packet generator analyzer software suite that includes a scripting capability, RFC2544, RFC2889, RFC 3918, and Y.1564 test suites as well as free technical support for the product lifetime.
